Association

Forum Helveticum was founded in 1968 as an independent association, neutral as regards religious and party-political interests. Forum Helveticum is a platform for discussing issues concerning Swiss public life.

As a competence centre for linguistic and cultural understanding, Forum Helveticum promotes the understanding in social, political, economical and cultural contexts. It is especially committed to fostering comprehension between the different linguistic communities in Switzerland as well as national cohesion.

Forum Helveticum carries out tasks involving information, consultation, sensitisation and networking. It initiated, among other things, the “Plurilingualism CH” parliamentary group in the Swiss Parliament in 2015 and has organised “Linguissimo”, the annual multilingual writing contest for youth, since 2008.

The multilingual “Portal for linguistic and cultural understanding” has been available in the four national languages and English since 2012. Its activities may originate from Forum Helveticum itself or from partner organisations. We are always happy to receive suggestions and requests.

The association pursues its goals in collaboration with partner organisations and institutions with similar objectives. Members of Forum Helveticum are individuals and legal entities. The latter can be national, regional or cantonal organisations, institutions and (umbrella)associations. The current 32 collective members are active politically, cultural, denominationally, economically, non-commercially and civically. The chief Forum Helveticum organs are the general assembly of delegates, the steering committee and the auditors.

The statuts of the association (2012) are available in german and french.
