The «Plurilingualism CH» parliamentary group has 49 members representing the entire political spectrum and all linguistic regions. The list of members (in French) is available online.
Aims
Plurilingualism is an important constitutive dimension for Switzerland as a nation created by its own will («Willensnation»). This highly symbolic element places the four national languages in an equal relationship, thus ensuring cohesion among the different linguistic regions in the federal government. It is essential to cultivate and preserve this.
The parliamentary group ” Plurilingualism CH” aims to:
- provide competent information about languages in Switzerland;
- promote plurilingualism in the national political debate;
- work together with the “Italianità” group and “Lingua e Cultura rumantsch” and provide added value with the plurilingualism perspective;
- offer and coordinate events for plurilingualism in parliament;
- provide a reactive and coordinated structure when necessary
